Christians have been called to a living relationship with Him who loved us enough to die while we were His worst enemy! It's a call to know and be transformed into His very own image.
"Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent". Jhn 17:3. NLT.
He prayed to the Father that we may KNOW Him. He desires an intimate relationship with you and I.
He has the whole of Heaven to worship Him and be around Him but He chooses to call you and I His friends.
The Apostle Paul after writing so many spirit-filled letters to the church and near the end of his life in this world he wrote "I want to KNOW Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. I want to suffer with him, sharing in his death, so that one way or another I will experience the resurrection from the dead!" Phil 3:10-11. NLT.
Paul at this point was speaking of a deep level of intimacy with Him. This is the life we have been called to live!
We have been called to walk with God just like Adam and Enoch did. The Good news of Christ is about a Human Being who was completely flesh and blood and also God!
He was so human that He died of a ruptured heart- just to save you and I. And He was\ is so God that after He was baptized by John and on the mount of transfiguration, the Father publicly announced His sonship while on earth.
It gave God great pleasure saving you and I. Our sins separated us from God. He wanted us back to Himself and not just a religious relationship if not the law would have been sufficient. But God wanted more than just a religious relationship- He wants an intimate living relationship with us. "...he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will..." Eph 1:5 NIV
He had to give up His only Son so that we could be adopted into His own family. He could have saved us and not made us part of His family but He went as far as making us in His image and His children so we could fellowship with Him daily.
Come with me as we all sit at His feet, learn from Him and be intimate with the lover of our souls. "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 1Jhn 1:3
