“...That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:15 KJV
I was offered a job some time last year. I was interviewed by the owner of the store and the interview was bad. I knew if I got the job, that would be a miracle. Days later, the owner of the store sent me an email with details on my start date and documents to bring so we could finalize the employment process.
I was grateful to God for this miracle because I desperately needed a change of job at that point. I resumed my new job on the agreed date.
When it was noon, the owner of the store walked in to see how my training process was going. After she was settled in, I walked over to her office to thank her for giving me a chance to work with and for her.
And she responded saying “I gave you the job because of your husband not you...” My husband is a friend of her family.
In other words she said to me “you don’t deserve this job but because of my relationship with your husband, I offered you this job.”
I smiled and went back to my desk and decided to give my best to the job. As I walked home, I heard in my spirit “that’s how it is with you and God. You don't deserve eternal life or any blessing you get as a Christian but because of Jesus Christ, God sees Christ and His blood and you now have a relationship with the Father and enjoy all the benefits and blessings as a child of God.”
Let’s listen to what Apostle Paul tells us in Eph 1:3 NLT
“All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.”
And that lesson has changed my thanksgiving and walk with the Lord.
"John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me. From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another." John 1:15-16
I clearly understand that I don’t deserve anything God has blessed me with but because of Jesus Christ, I am accepted in the beloved, blessed with all spiritual blessing in heavenly places, and I have eternal life.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." 1 Peter 1:3-5
Now, you and I can go boldly to the Throne of Grace (our God and Father) to receive mercy and find grace in time of need. Jesus Christ in John 14:6-7 " I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." You and I will never have had God as our Father if not for Jesus Christ.
If He didn't choose the cross, our fate was to be in HELL for ALL ETERNITY! He chose the nails, He chose to carry His cross, He chose the pain, He chose separation from His Father, He chose the insults, He chose death so that we will be forever with Him, He chose to drink to the very last drop from the cup God gave Him to drink, He chose the suffering for He was a MAN of many sorrows. The wrath and death we deserved because of our sin was put on Jesus Christ. He did ALL these for you and I while we were still His worst enemies. What a reckless love!
"Then Simon Peter drew a sword and slashed off the right ear of Malchus, the high priest’s slave. But Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword back into its sheath. Shall I not drink from the cup of suffering the Father has given me?” John 18:10-11
He rose from the grave on the third day and now He is seated at the right hand of God making intersession for us. We are seated with Him in Heavenly places. He has made us Kings and Priests unto His God and Father. We are children of God and heirs of the Kingdom of God all because a Man called Jesus Christ chose to lay His own life down for you and I. He is the Good Shephard who called us out of darkness.
The Cross of Jesus Christ (Calvary) is enough reason to continually thank and worship Him! He deserves our true worship-our lives. We have life now and forever with God and this new life we have in God is ALL BECAUSE OF THE MAN CALLED JESUS CHRIST - THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD!
Lord, thank you for carrying Your cross and choosing the nails for me. All that I am is because of You.
